The Meinl Sonic Energy Wind Gongs are traditionally handcrafted in China using a special bronze alloy. These gongs, also known as Feng or Sun Gongs, are created with meticulous attention to detail using techniques passed down through generations of master gong makers, resulting in instruments of exceptional quality and character.

Distinctive Sound Characteristics

The almost flat shape of the Wind Gong allows its voice to fully open with a wide tonal spectrum and impressively long sustain. Lower tones dominate when played softly, creating a grounding, meditative atmosphere. When struck with more force, the gong opens up beautifully, producing mesmerizing wave-like overtones that fill the space with rich, dynamic vibrations.

Yin & Yang Symbolism

The Yin & Yang symbol adorning this gong represents harmony and balance. These complementary opposites describe the interconnected nature of seemingly contrary forces that actually depend on one another.
